Lighthouse in Fort Hancock in Monmouth County New Jersey - Lighthouse Sandy Hook NJ
A Late Summer's Day - white fluffy clouds billowing in the sky.
Sandy Hook New Jersey Beaches. Gateway National Recreation Area: Home of the Oldest working Lighthouse in the U.S.
On the East Coast of the United States overlooking the Atlantic Ocean - Built in 1764 on the Sandy Hook Bay as the Gateway to the NY Harbor.
The lighthouse was the first visible object incoming ships could see to enter - 3 pence was the charge to come into New York's harbor.
Lighthouse Keeper's Quarters were added on in 1883 and is now a Visitors Center.
The USCG stationed at Fort Hancock on the Island maintain the Lighthouse - and keeps its beacon of light shining 24 / 7.
Sandy Hook beaches on the inlet side of the island overlook the Atlantic Highlands and the NY City skyline. Quiet leisurely days can be spent enjoying the slower and quiet atmosphere and wading out in to the washes trapped in by sandbars.
The Outer banks view the rougher waters of the Atlantic Ocean .
