Description
" All that is Holy " , a variety of plants and ferns in the gardens after the rain.
Sunlight is breaking through the stormy clouds and back on our way to a glorious day.
The star of the show is the Jack- in-the-Pulpit plant.
Jack-in-the-Pulpit plant is known by a few names; most commonly a Pitcher plant or Indian Turnip.
A favorite shade loving plant in the garden. Presents so nicely among the Hostas and the Ferns.
In the forest woodlands it can be found growing in the rich earth under the deciduous trees.
Considered a wildflower , a favorite amongst the Native Americans for their roots - which must be carefully prepared.
Jack in the pulpit plants contain a compound called Calcium Oxalate - and it's leaves and fruit should be handled while wearing gloves as it will irritate the skin.
This image was inspired by the beautiful capture of Hudson Valley NY photographer Susan Yenna - Lovullo . Her original image is of a favorite plant in her own garden, and gratefully granted me permission to recreate its likeness in the magic of watercolor . Thank you to Susan.
