Description
An Old fashioned traditional Christmas Tree with lights on out in the snow on a Winter's night. The Christmas star shines brightly above.
Simpler times.
As a child growing up out in the country, it was the tradition for all of the neighbors to decorate an outdoor tree, and the lamp post with a red bow at the end of the drive.
Our tree was a Blue Spruce, at the time probably no more than 5' - 6' in height. We would go out before dusk and place a simple string or two of lights upon the tree. Remember those old big glass bulbs - as long as your thumb. ? They are considered "retro" now. A silver star made out of tinfoil was always placed on top.
There were no rules, and no competing.
No "100 lights per foot of the tree". Nothing neon blinking with music blasting.
Just one simply decorated by children Christmas tree.
We would play on the lawn in the snow with the dogs by the glowing light of that tree in to the night.
Making snow angels of course. Those memories are purely magical now.
The tree grew, and so did we. She was a real beauty - worthy of Rockefeller center.
I painted this image for my father. A reminder of the simple joys we had as children, and all of our childhood Christmases.
There is still a tree outside my house, that gets a tinfoil star for Christmas.
Warmest holiday wishes to you and yours. May all your memories be held dear in your heart.
