The places that we call home.
The Winter's wind blows through the open fields and pastures.
This proud Paint horse stands in the shadows of the Shawangunk mountain ridge in New Paltz NY.
This handsome gelding is a Paint Draught / Draft mix, he is a big beautiful stocky boy.
" Windswept "
Autumn winds sweep through fields and plains
not saddled by man nor constricting reins
For I must roam wild and free
This is how nature intended to be
Grazing on grass the wind in my face
Stress of urban life leaves nary a trace
This wind in my face ruffles my mane
These fields I call homeland ancestors terrain
My coat of brown and white adapting to these hills
gives photographers and painters endless artist thrills
For I was born to freedom
to run with wisp and wind
I am your friend called " Windswept "
our hearts forever twinned .

A Paint Horse: There is often a bit of confusion between Painted horses and Pintos.
The American Paint horses are a registered breed, they are a mix between a Western stock horse and horses that display flashy Pinto markings.
Paints are commonly referred to as Pinto's.
Pinto refers to coloring and the splashy markings on a horse - and there are several varieties of those too.
Tobiano, Overo and Tovero if you are interested in looking up the different patterns.
Not all Pintos are Paints.
Now you know.
The earth colors in this image are warm chestnuts and sienna . The wide blue skies are Indigo to teal blues, ochres, blue grey, and brown make in the rustic barn wood make for a Country Western appeal.
This watercolor painting is inspired by an image from the local Hudson Valley Photographer Christopher Haughian - Christography.
Full permission granted - Thank you Chris !
